Biography

Tricia Melvin, MD, MBS, is an orthopedic surgeon with dual fellowship training in orthopedic trauma, as well as hip and knee arthroplasty. Dr. Melvin specializes in complex fracture care, polytrauma, pelvic and acetabular fractures, nonunion fractures, primary and revision hip and knee replacements, and periprosthetic fractures.

Prior to joining The CORE Institute, Dr. Melvin completed an orthopedic trauma fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University Health in Richmond, followed by a hip and knee arthroplasty fellowship at Joint Implant Surgeons in New Albany, Ohio, where she trained under Dr. Adolph V. Lombardi. Her trauma fellowship provided extensive experience in managing polytraumatized patients, complex fracture repairs, and orthopedic infections, while her arthroplasty fellowship focused on high-volume primary and revision hip and knee surgeries and the economics of outpatient joint replacements.

Dr. Melvin completed her orthopedic surgery residency at Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh where she provided on-field medical coverage for western Pennsylvania high school athletics and was actively involved in medical student education. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from Drexel University College of Medicine, a Master of Biomedical Sciences with honors from Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, and her undergraduate degree with honors from Brown University, where she lettered in varsity softball for four years.

Dr. Melvin is an active member of several professional societies, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society, the Orthopaedic Trauma Association, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and the Gladden Society.

Patient Satisfaction Reviews

The CORE Institute is focused on providing an exceptional patient care experience. To ensure that we are holding ourselves to the highest standards, we measure all aspects of patient satisfaction with Rater8, an independent patient satisfaction company. This service partnership provides the technology to display ratings on our physician profile pages, and all ratings are verified and submitted by actual patients.

Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score. These reviews have been submitted by patients as a reflection of their views and opinions. The resulting ratings are not directly endorsed by and do not necessarily reflect the views of The CORE Institute.
