Fellowship Description: 

The CORE Institute Adult Reconstruction/Total Joint Arthroplasty Fellowship spans 12 months and offers a distinctive, intensive curriculum. Each fellow undergoes extensive training under the guidance of four highly experienced Adult Reconstruction attending surgeons, all of whom have completed fellowships. Fellows participate in dedicated rotations and based on previous years’ experiences, actively engage in over 500 routine and intricate adult reconstruction surgeries during the fellowship. The program includes thorough training in robotics. Notably, the Adult Reconstructive Service handles one of the highest volumes of complex revision cases nationally, providing fellows with significant exposure to tumor reconstruction cases due to the faculty’s diverse expertise. 

  • High-volume joint reconstruction service with a track record of clinical and educational excellence 
  • Robotic-assisted partial and total joint replacement utilizing MAKO. 
  • Direct anterior approach to total hip replacement 
  • Complex hip reconstruction with pelvic cages and proximal femoral replacement prosthesis 
  • Academic program with research expectations 
  • World-class biomechanics and robotics research lab facility 
  • Regular Journal Club 
  • Appropriate degree of clinical autonomy commensurate with skill set  
  • Extensive exposure and training in the business of orthopedic practice, management, and value-based care programs (if desired) 
  • Extensive exposure within specialty hospital settings and learning efficiencies around surgical and clinical care.

Residency: Ochsner Health Residency 

-900 cases per year: 80% Arthroplasty, 10% Complex Reconstruction 

-Megaprostheses, Complex Oncologic Reconstruction

Phoenix is well located for travel, with a large, centrally located airport that serves as a hub for multiple airlines, and is just a few hours’ drive from many scenic destinations including Sedona, Flagstaff, the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, Moab, Monuments Valley, Antelope Canyon and more. 

Applicants must have completed an accredited orthopedic surgery residency program in the Unites States or Canada, be board-eligible or board-certified, and be able to obtain an Arizona state medical license before the fellowship begins.
